Cold shower benefits: is shivering in the shower really better for you?

It makes me not want to shower when I thought of jumping into a freezing cold shower. When hot water runs down my back, I love the feeling of loosening my muscles and blanketing me with warmth. Literally, a hot shower warms me both mentally and physically.
I also have Jergens Ultra Healing Lotion to moisturize my skin when the hot water dries my skin.
As a beauty expert, I knew just how to heal dry skin in many ways and of a scalding shower, I always thought dry skin is the only negative.
Though, a few weeks ago I was having a juice with my friend and he told that for health benefits, he has been taking cold showers.
Later I asked many questions like the temperature of water (50 degrees), just a ‘refreshing burst’ or whole (whole shower) and every shower (yes). Later I asked the reason about that.
He mentioned that your metabolism can be jumpstart by a 5 to 30 minutes cold shower.
The reason is that 50 degree temperature water on your body activates the brown fat of your body, which burns energy to keep your body temperature up and is a fat-burning tissue in your body. The result is a better mood, a faster metabolism and higher energy levels.
Along with my friend, Dr. Oz and Tim Ferris (author of ‘The 4-hour body) also say that freezing cold showers can boost your energy levels, increase your metabolism, throw your sex drive into high gear, bolster your immune system and even lead to healthier hair and skin.
Intrigued about the potential benefits and always remain up for the challenge. For 5 days, I tried it. But I knew it wasn’t for me when I found myself trying to figure out how to avoid washing my hair for more and more days.

Though, here’s a tip if you want to try it. Before dropping the temperature, start with two minutes of a warm shower to get used to it. The experience is made slightly less torturous by this.
