The problem here isn’t necessarily that Native American cultural imagery or any other cultural imagery – cannot inspire or be referenced by a person outside of that culture. If a designer wants to integrate the theme into a show or a collection that he or she finds beautiful after having made at least a minimal effort to learn about the origin of the cultural context or the imagery, generally that’s not a problem.
