Vera Farmiga earned her first Emmy nomination this year, thanks to her performance as Norma Bates in Bates Motel. And, though she didn’t win the statue but she’d be a shoo-in, if there were an award for looking sophisticated yet stylish badass. With a Lanvin belt, Farmiga accessorized her Theyskens’ Theory gown, plus makeup to soften the edge and a voluminous ‘do.

Makeup artist Pati Dubroff used the brand-new Marc Jacobs Beauty collection on Farmiga, during her prep session at the Four Seasons Beverly Hills. Dubroff chose to play up Farmiga’s features with gentle makeup because of the ensemble’s “major punk influence”.

She reached for Marc Jacobs beauty Style Eye-Con Plush Shadow No. 3 in The Mod and No. 7 in The Lolita, to create the eye. To define the eye, she used bisque, bone, black and silver colors from the palettes. Dubroff lined eyes with Magic Marc’er Precision for intensity, after adding two coats of mascara. Some blush on the apples of the cheek, plus a bit of foundation and for the finishing touch, Dubroff was ready: A dusty rose with a hint of shine, Lovemarc Lip Gel in Roleplay. That makes her really pretty.
